Welcome to the first installment of our “Meet Your Advisor” series, where we take you behind the scenes to introduce you to the dedicated professionals who make Trinity Wealth Management what it is today. Our goal is to give you an inside look at the values, experiences, and philosophies that drive our advisors to help you achieve financial peace of mind. This week, we’re delighted to share our conversation with Charlie Mann, the President and one of the Senior Wealth Advisors at Trinity Wealth Management.
Q: In your opinion, what does financial freedom mean, and how do you help your clients achieve it?
Charlie: Financial freedom is being able to make life decisions without fear or worry about the financial impact. We help clients achieve this through planning and improving their financial lives, so they have the ability to live with a sense of peace, even when life throws them a curve ball.
Q: Can you describe a moment with a client that reinforced why you do what you do?
Charlie: There are two moments that really stand out to me. The first was when a client came to us after being victims of a Ponzi scheme in their late 50s. They had lost most of their investment assets and were looking for help rebuilding their net worth. After working with them for 10 years, they were both able to retire and their assets had grown considerably. In a review meeting, I congratulated them on the great progress they had made. Their response was, “We just did what you told us to do, and we wouldn’t be in this position without you.” This helped me realize the positive impact we can have on our clients’ lives.
The second was when a client reached out after getting devastating news of a terminal illness. She wanted help making the best end-of-life decisions. We reviewed her employer benefits, including life and disability insurance coverage and her pension. We also confirmed beneficiaries were set up to her satisfaction and discussed the distribution of assets after her death. During a break, her husband said how grateful they were to be able to come to what he called “an oasis of peace” during this difficult time. He said they felt so blessed to have us helping them with these challenging decisions. Our mission is to help our clients have a sense of peace, and it was very rewarding to hear we had helped them accomplish that.
Q: What’s one life lesson you’ve learned from your work as a financial advisor that has been invaluable to you personally?
Charlie: It’s too hard to pick just one, so here are five things that can help anyone create wealth:
- Spend less than you make.
- Avoid the use of debt.
- Set aside money for emergencies.
- Plan your spending.
- Invest for the long term.
Q: Are there any books, podcasts, or influential figures that have significantly shaped your personal or professional life?
Charlie: Reading the Bible and living a life of faith has had a profound impact on my life. While there have been many people who have helped me grow throughout my career, Ron Carson, his coaching staff, and his book Tested in The Trenches have had the biggest impact on my professional growth.
Q: Philanthropy can take many forms. How do you approach the concept of giving back, and why do you think it’s important?
Charlie: I used to feel that I needed to hold onto my money, but as I learned more about what the Bible says regarding money and giving, I felt called to change my attitude. Marjorie and I made giving a priority in our lives, and we have found that letting go of money and things has brought us a sense of peace, joy, and freedom. We’ve learned that you can’t outgive God!
Q: Is there a piece of advice or a motto you live by?
Charlie: “Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself.” If everyone did this, the world would be a better place!
Charlie’s story is a testament to the impact that thoughtful financial planning and a strong sense of purpose can have on your life. His ability to bring clarity and confidence to complex financial situations is at the core of our mission and is what makes him an invaluable leader and advisor at Trinity Wealth Management. Stay tuned for more insights and stories from our advisors in upcoming posts!
